Oriental history
Looking at all wars in human history, some people have come to the conclusion that, under the condition of running out of ammunition and food, orientals often fight to the death, while westerners mostly surrender. Where did these two diametrically opposed attitudes come from when the East and the West were in a desperate situation of war?

In fact, the different views on the matter of "surrender" are entirely caused by the cultural differences between the East and the West formed over thousands of years.

Since ancient times, orientals have had a very strong' national consciousness', and they regard it as a great honor to die in the battlefield. For thousands of years, we have been adhering to the life values of' rather die than surrender', so when we run out of ammunition and food in the war, we often burn our bridges and die. On the other hand, soldiers who fled the battlefield and surrendered on the spot rarely heard of cases of preferential treatment. Even if these people are lucky enough to get temporary peace, they will end up with a reputation that will last forever. Moreover, orientals simply look down on those soldiers who kneel and surrender, so they bury prisoners or slaughter the whole city at every turn. Therefore, surrender is not a good choice for most orientals.

Westerners, on the other hand, have been advocating "taking people as the core" for thousands of years, emphasizing "individual" and "humanity". As the saying goes, "there is no shortage of wood to burn green", so they know how to retreat after difficulties. In addition, many ancient western countries practiced the mercenary system. These soldiers who spend money on fighting will never really do their best from beginning to end. Since winning or losing doesn't matter, surrender has become a common occurrence.

Under the influence of thousands of years of culture, the attitudes of eastern and western countries towards surrender are similar. Nowadays, such behavior is supported by national laws and regulations. For example, the Code of Conduct for American Soldiers stipulates: "When all possible means of resistance have been exhausted, surrender is not a shameful thing."

In fact, if it is true, the fighting will of westerners is not worse than that of orientals. For example, during World War II, there were many battles of life and death. Therefore, we can't generalize the problems of "war" or "health". What do you think of this?
