The exchange between China and Laos began in the Three Kingdoms period, when the area near Yunnan in Laos was called "Tang Ming". In the sixth year of Huang Wu's stay in Soochow (227), Tang Ming sent envoys to Soochow to pay tribute. When Tang Gaozong was in China, Zhenla was divided into two countries. The north was called Wendan Country, and its capital was in Wendan City (that is, Vientiane today). Wenshan had a close and friendly relationship with the Tang Dynasty, and sent envoys to the Tang Dynasty four times.
Historically, the trade between China and Laos has greatly jumped.
