There are thirty-six volumes in the book, and one volume is added. It's called Twenty-two History, but it's actually about the Twenty-four History. Because the Book of the Tang Dynasty and the History of the Five Dynasties are both new and old works, Zhao Yi regards them as a history, so the name of the twenty-four histories is not used.

The contents of the volume include: Historical Records, History of Han Dynasty, History of the Three Kingdoms, Book of Jin, History of Song, Qi, Liang, Southern History, History of Wei, Qi, Zhou and Sui Dynasties, History of North China, Five Books of Tang Dynasty, Two Books of Five Dynasties and Four Books of Song, Liao and Jin Dynasties.
