There are many historical celebrities in Fengxiang County. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, there was Qin Mugong, one of the five tyrants in the Spring and Autumn Period. In the Tang Dynasty, there was Yang Yan, a famous figure who initiated the "two tax laws", and Li, the first scientist in the world who graded the wind and found that the tail of a comet was facing away from the sun. During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, there were famous painters Zhi Zhongyuan in the Song Dynasty, famous anti-Jin artists Yang and Zhang Zaiyi Sun, scholars Zhang Shundian in the Ming Dynasty, and Yuan Yingtai, assistant minister of the Anti-Qing War Department.
Fengxiang is the hometown of literati, ranking first among officials since ancient times. There are more than 400 records in the late Tang Dynasty and the late Qing Dynasty, including nearly 100 scholars. There have been many stories about being admitted to the fifth subject (Zhang Zhiyuan, Zhang Zhiyuan, Zhang Zhitai, Zhang Zhimo) and four generations of Kejia officials (Yang Dabao, Yang Zhe, Bai Yang, Yang Yan).
