Under the active advocacy of Academician Song Jian, State Councilor and Director of the State Science and Technology Commission, 1992 was initiated by the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping, the State Science and Technology Commission and other units, and 18 ministries and institutions were established in the Preparatory Committee of China Geographic Information System Association from 65438 to April 1993.

65438+ held the first meeting of the Preparatory Committee in May of 1993, and registered as a member from June to September of 1993.

1994 In March, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China approved the registration certificate of China Geographic Information System Association.

Association renaming

On July 8, 201/kloc-0, China Geographic Information System Association was renamed as China Geographic Information Industry Association with the approval of the Ministry of Land and Resources and the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping Geographic Information.
