The earliest articles in ancient times were mostly notes, and later developed into historical classics, which were true and objective without artistic processing. Later, various styles appeared, such as official documents, papers, practical articles, etc., which were only used for reading.
Recently, there have been artistic articles that can be read and heard, such as legends, plays, poems and even today's novels and stories.
Especially in the Song Dynasty, more and more people took storytelling as their profession, and most of the audience they faced were illiterate, so storytellers needed to rewrite articles that were not suitable for "listening" into "stories". At this point, literature as an art has been independent of history, papers and practical writing.
Historical Records is a historical work, and it is not easy to "listen" without adaptation. For example, Chen Shou's historical work The History of the Three Kingdoms has a relatively small audience because it is not easy to "listen", while Luo Guanzhong's adaptation of The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is suitable for "listening" and has a relatively large audience.
