The world cultural heritage is Hongze Lake levee.

Hongze Lake, located at the junction of Jiangsu, Anhui, Huai 'an and Suqian, is currently under the joint jurisdiction of Huai 'an and Suqian, with Huai 'an in the south and Suqian in the north. Hongze Lake levee is located in Huai 'an City, Jiangsu Province. Built in the Eastern Han Dynasty, it has a history of 1800 years.

After that, it experienced the continuous construction of several dynasties, especially in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, which gradually changed from the original earth embankment to a stone embankment and lasted for more than 200 years. At present, the Hongze Lake levee has been listed in the World Cultural Heritage List, and it was a miracle to build such a waterproof project at that time.

History and culture

Hongze Lake levee is rich in history and culture. In Qing Dynasty, Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong attached great importance to the management and protection of dikes. They made six southern expeditions, 12 boarded the Tian Fei Gate of Qingkou (Hongze Lake exit), inspected the river affairs and instructed the river chief, leaving 40 imperial inscriptions on the Hongze Lake levee. Two generations of emperors paid attention to water control and visited the site personally, leaving many achievements and inscriptions in river control.
