Tongguan is located in the Yellow River Triangle at the junction of Qin, Jin and Henan provinces, where the Yellow River, Weihe River and Luohe River meet, bordering the Yellow River in the north, Qinling Mountain in the south, Huashan Mountain in the west and Lingbao in Henan Province in the east, with a total area of 526 square kilometers and a population of 1.6 million.
