Where do China cherries originate?
Cherry cultivated in China is China Cherry, which is native to the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China and has been cultivated for more than 3,000 years. Shandong is an important cherry cultivation area in China. The earliest written records about cherry cultivation can be found in Qi Yaomin's Book by Jia Sixie in the Northern Wei Dynasty. Later, in the16th century, there were many records of cherries in some local chronicles of Shandong, indicating that China cherries had become a specialty of Qingzhou and Linqu more than 400 years ago. At present, China cherry is widely distributed in Shandong Province, and it is cultivated except the northwest plain of Shandong Province, lakes, depressions and coastal waterlogged areas.
