Buwei County was established in the second year of Yuanfeng in the Western Han Dynasty (before 109), belonging to Yizhou County, which was the beginning of the establishment of funeral land.

In the twelfth year of Yongping in the Eastern Han Dynasty (69 years), Liu Maoju, the king of Ailao, took the Eastern Han Dynasty as an example, saying in history that "Han Deguang's service was not satisfactory; In the Eastern Han Dynasty, six counties such as Buwei County and Yizhou County were analyzed, and Ailao County and Bonan County were newly established, and eight counties of Yongchang County were established. Yongchang County lasted for 488 years, belonging to Ningzhou from the Western Jin Dynasty to the Southern and Northern Dynasties and ending in the Southern Dynasties.
