Ji Ling's fighting capacity in The Romance of the Three Kingdoms actually ranks in the top 100. He is equipped with a three-pointed double-edged knife, and his knife method is very good. And once Ji Ling and Guan Yu fought one-on-one and were unbeaten in more than 30 moves, which fully proved his fighting capacity. There is no record of Ji Ling's final ending in the official history, but in The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, it says, "Zhang Fei let out a cry and stabbed Ji Ling under the horse, and the defeated army fled", indicating that Ji Ling was killed by Zhang Fei. Ji Ling wanted to join Yuan Shao with Yuan Shu after Yuan Shu fell from power, but he met Zhang Fei on the way and was killed in the battle with Zhang Fei.
Ji Ling's ending is actually a pity. His martial arts are not inferior to Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. Although he was finally killed by Zhang Fei, it was also because after the defeat of Yuan Shu, Ji Ling was not as good as Zhang Fei in both state and fighting spirit, so he was killed by Zhang Fei. If the teacher he followed at that time was not Yuan Shu, but Cao Cao or Liu Bei, it would certainly be of great use. Ji Ling's military talent is no less than anyone else's. Ji Ling almost killed Liu Bei when he attacked him. If it weren't for Lu Bu, maybe Ji Ling would have killed Liu Bei, and there would be no later Shu Han.
But the mistake is to take refuge in Ji Ling's master. Yuan Shu didn't let him get ahead, but let him die at the hands of Zhang Fei. Ji Ling was loyal to Yuan Shu all his life, but I think it would be better for him to take refuge in other people than Yuan Shu if he could do it all over again.
