History of AP 1000
According to the official website of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Westinghouse submitted the final design approval and standard design certification application of AP 1000 to NRC on March 28th, 2002. On September 3rd, 2004, 13 obtained the final design approval from NRC. On February 23rd, 2005, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission voted to pass the final design certification rules of AP 1000 standard nuclear power plants, and signed them on October 23rd, 2006. Until 20 10, 12 and 1, Westinghouse submitted the 18 version of AP 1000 design control document to NRC. According to Scientific American, it is expected that NRC will complete the overall design certification of AP65438+AP 1000 in September. According to Westinghouse's expectation, the United States will start construction of AP 1000 nuclear power plant in 20 16, which will be the first time that the United States has resumed nuclear power plant construction since the 1970s.
