Nangong City is located in the south-central part of Hebei Province, northeast of Xingtai City, bordering Julu County and Weixian County in the southwest. The total area is 863.3 square kilometers. Jurisdiction over 6 towns, 5 townships and 4 streets.
Nangong City has a long history and splendid culture. It was named after Nangong Hou Shi, one of the eight poets in the Western Zhou Dynasty. It is one of Xingtai City 19 counties and cities, and is known as the red capital of southern Hebei. Nangong County was established in the early Western Han Dynasty. 1986 withdrew from the county to set up a city, and 1987 was approved as an open city by the State Council.
