What contribution did Liu make to Nankai University?
Contribution to the Discipline of Classical Chinese Fiction in Nankai University In the discipline of Nankai Chinese Department, the study of ancient literature (including ancient literary criticism) has always been the leading force in China. Among them, the history of literary criticism and the study of ancient novels and operas are the research strengths with a long tradition, remarkable achievements and recognized by academic circles. However, the research of each research point is not balanced. As far as the study of ancient novels is concerned, the advantages of Nankai University before the Cultural Revolution were mainly in the study of vernacular novels, among which Mr. Xu Zhengyang's plays and novels were the best. However, Nankai University's specialized research on classical Chinese novels is basically blank. 1979, with the efforts of Mr. Hua Cuishen, Mr. Zhu, Mr. Ning and Mr. Lu Decai, the Chinese Department set up a novel and drama research room and recruited the first batch of graduate students after the Cultural Revolution. In order to expand the strength of the laboratory and attract external talents to serve the construction of Nankai University, Nankai Chinese Department issued an appeal to the society and alumni to recruit talents. After hearing the news, Mr. Wang quickly recommended Liu to Nankai Chinese Department. According to Mr. Ning's memory, at that time, Nankai Chinese Department invited Liu Ye's department to give lectures first; Subsequently, Liu was formally invited by the Chinese Department of Nankai University to hire Wei Liu as an adjunct professor, which Liu Xinran accepted. So Liu became the first batch of part-time professors hired by Nankai Chinese Department after the Cultural Revolution. As several graduate tutors registered for 1979 have been confirmed, Liu only assisted several tutors in giving lectures. Among them, Li Jianguo chose the research direction of mystery novels before the Tang Dynasty, and was warmly encouraged and carefully guided by Liu. Since then, Nankai University's research on classical Chinese novels and personnel training have started. From 65438 to 0982, Liu began to recruit graduate students in the direction of note novels for the first time in Nankai University by means of joint training with Mr. Ning. This is the first and only time in the history of education in China to recruit graduate students in this field. Liu is one of the few scholars who engaged in the study of classical Chinese note novel system at home and abroad earlier. Before the Cultural Revolution, he published novels of Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, essays on classical novels and other monographs devoted to China's classical note novels. After the new period, he published Notes of Past Dynasties and Notes of Classical Novels. These works were of pioneering significance at that time.
