The historical position of Jingxingguan
Jingxingguan has an extremely important position in history. It is not only a battleground for military strategists, but also the only way for east-west traffic. In the case of underdeveloped means of transportation in ancient times, its position became more and more prominent, and it enjoyed the reputation of "the main road of Yanjin" for a long time. Even in today's booming economic construction, its status can only be continuously improved. Especially the electrification of Shijiazhuang-Taiyuan Railway shows its importance in the four modernizations, but its significance is slightly different.

Jingxingguan is surrounded by mountains. Before the pass, the Taiping River flowed all year round. The hills in the pass are wide, reaching directly to the North China Plain, with lush dangerous peaks and beautiful environment. The original four Guanlou were located at the entrance of Dongtumen Village and Xitumen Village respectively. There are three attics, namely, East Tumen West Pavilion, West Tumen East Pavilion and West Pavilion, all of which are stone-based arches with brick pavilions on the doorways. In the eighth year of Yongzheng in Qing dynasty (1730), the stone carving of "thoroughfare of three provinces" was embedded in the west drift gate of Xige in Dongtumen. The coupon door of Xitumen East Pavilion is engraved with the words "Mountain Meeting Chuan Mei" in the 22nd year of Qianlong (1757), and the coupon door of Xige Pavilion is engraved with the words "Mountain Children's Music" in the 11th year of Ming Chongzhen (1638). There is an ancient stone post road built in Qin and Han dynasties under the attic, which is nearly 300 meters. As a witness of history, the huge stones, which have been uneven and broken by years and horses and chariots, still silently tell visitors the tragic experience of closing the door.

From Qin and Han Dynasties to Ming and Qing Dynasties, there were as many as 17 wars recorded in historical books. One of the most famous is the backwater war commanded by Han Xin. In the third year of Emperor Gaozu (the first 204 years), Han Xin led an army to attack Zhao, and he crossed the rubicon outside Jingxing Pass, last stand. Because of desperation, the soldiers laid down their lives to fight Zhao, and finally defeated Zhao, winning a great victory, leaving a war example in China's military history, which is immortal. At present, there is still "Han Xinshan" near Jingxingguan. There are many relics on the mountain, such as flagpole eyes, battle riprap and so on, and there are more than 50 related legends and stories. Standing at the pass, although you can't see the golden horse or the rolling beacon smoke, you can still observe the cruelty and bitterness of the ancient battlefield. The remains of the ancient theater near the attic of Guankou, the inscriptions on the closed doors of past dynasties, the poems written by literati, Zhaobi, Han Xin Temple and Guandi Temple often make visitors linger.

Jingxingguan, as the fifth east entrance of the Eight Strings of Taihang Mountain, is not only a military fortress and an important stationing place since Qin and Han Dynasties, but also a transportation hub and post station for economic and cultural exchanges among Shanxi, Shaanxi and Hebei provinces.
