Jazz was founded in New Orleans in 1974 and moved to Salt Lake City in 1979. After struggling for the first few years, Jazz became a regular playoff player in the 1980s. From 1983 to 2002, the winning rate in the regular season exceeded 50% every year, and it entered the playoffs for 19 years in a row. 1997 and 1998, the jazz reached the finals twice, but lost to Chicago Bulls both times. In the 2009-20 10 season, the Jazz reached the playoffs with the fifth place in the West.
