A street with a history of 5000 years.
There is heaven above and Suzhou and Hangzhou below. Actually, I prefer Suzhou to Hangzhou. The poetic Suzhou gardens and melodious Soviet tunes are fascinating.

When it comes to Suzhou, most people will think of Hanshan Temple, "Hanshan Temple outside Gusu, Humble Administrator's Garden, one of the four major gardens in China". However, there is a street in Suzhou, where tourists feel very comfortable after coming, and they don't feel tired after shopping all day. This street is Suzhou Pingjiang Road.

Pingjiang Road is a historical old street in Suzhou, and it is a path along the river named Ping He Jiang. Pingjiang Road Historic District is the most intact area of Suzhou ancient city so far, which can be called the epitome of the ancient city. In fact, Pingjiang Road is not long, with a total length of 1 600 meters. However, the river crosses the street, and there are 65,438+065,438+0 bridges in the east and west, which together with the tributaries on the side form the Pingjiang historical block.

As early as the Southern Song Dynasty, Pingjiang Road was clearly identifiable on the map of Suzhou, which was the main road in the eastern half of Suzhou at that time. For more than 800 years, not only the river type and street system of Pingjiang Road are basically similar to the original ones, but also the water town pattern of "parallel waterways and adjacent rivers and streets" is clearly preserved. Pingjiang Road is the best preserved ancient street in Suzhou, separated from Guanqian Street by a lane, but its quiet and quaint living atmosphere is quite different from the noise a few feet away.

Walking on Pingjiang Road, there is no noisy commercial atmosphere and all kinds of hawking, but occasionally I can listen to the boatman sing a flat tune or a Suzhou Pingtan in the teahouse, which is extremely comfortable.

The buildings on both sides look unremarkable, but if you look closely, you can find a particularly delicate carved porch. These old houses hide food, bars and history, but they are not at all ostentatious.

The legend on Pingjiang Road is that Hong Jun, Hong Jun, the top high school scholar in Tongzhi for seven years, slowly rose from imperial academy to the left assistant minister of the Ministry of War, and the more romantic love story is that he married Sai Jinhua, a 28-year-old prostitute from Qinhuai River, to the Hong family and became his third concubine.

There are many narrow streets and lanes on Pingjiang Road, such as Hangqiao Lane, Shilin Temple Lane, Fang Chuan Lane, Donghua Bridge Lane, Caohuwei Lane, Lilac Lane, Daxiaoqiao Lane, Weidaoguan Front Lane, Zhongzhangjia Lane, Daru Lane, Jony J Lane, Niujia Lane, etc., and every street and lane may have a long story behind it. In the late Qing Dynasty and modern times, many celebrities lived in these narrow alleys and deep houses. Most of these houses look unremarkable, but when they walk in, they have a unique charm of Suzhou gardens. The modern poet Dai Wangshu describes the Lilac Lane here in this way: a person walks in a long and lonely rainy lane with an oil-paper umbrella, hoping to meet a girl as sad as Lilac.

Pingjiang Road retains a large number of old-fashioned houses, old houses with white walls and blue tiles. Many vines and Parthenocissus have climbed out of the peeling wall, swaying in the wind, looking very smart. The craftsmen in the south of the Yangtze River are meticulous in their thoughts and have brought the aesthetics of gardens to the extreme.

The quiet river and the houses, pavilions, bridges, flowers and trees of Daiwa borrow scenery from each other, just like a long scroll. Walking here has the ancient charm of Jiangnan, which is this kind of comfort. Many tourists feel that Pingjiang Road is really comfortable to the bone. Although the street is not long, it can make people linger all day. On Pingjiang Road, there are many Suzhou cuisines to taste. Eating a private kitchen hidden in an old house, drinking afternoon tea in a daze in the yard and listening to a Soviet-style pingtan make people forget the time, leaving only this beauty and comfort in their hearts. The most worthwhile street in Suzhou is 1600 meters, with 1 1 bridge, which is known as the epitome of the ancient city!

Suzhou ancient city is the best preserved street, with a total length of only 1600 meters. Tourists are not tired after a day's walk!
