It is common for hungry people to eat dead human flesh, and what is even more terrible is to kill the living and children to satisfy their hunger. In Tongmudong, a poor couple was forced by hunger and killed their 3-year-old daughter to satisfy their hunger, so as to prolong their lives. According to the records in Xun Bao Relief at that time: "Hungry people in Fuling, hungry people in Fengdu, cooking to satisfy their hunger and killing their younger brothers. Cangxi is hungry, and the hungry people in Langzhong eat their sons and burn them. "

Famine makes people sexually extinct and abnormal, and heinous cannibalism tragedies emerge one after another. There is an old man in Yujiagou, wangcang county. After his two sons starved to death, Qin Laoyao cut off their sons' meat and ate it, but finally they starved to death. There is a man named Meng in the wooden door of Wenchang Palace. There are three people in the family. His mother and sister both starved to death. He was so hungry that just after his mother died, he cut his chest, cooked one in an iron can, and then cried and said, "My mother died and the meat was cut." Everyone in the street went to see it, and it was really bloody. They asked him what he had cooked in the can. He said, "bovine brain marrow!" When I opened it, I saw a man's milk was boiled in a mess, and then I saw an old woman in his basket. There are five people in Yang Chuanxing's family in Puji Yutang Bay. His wife and daughter-in-law were starved to death, leaving only a granddaughter of a few years old. One night, Yang Chuanxing was so hungry that he hacked his granddaughter to death with a knife and ate meat. When he was chopping wood, the neighbor heard the woman shout, "Don't chop me, I'll collect firewood for you when I grow up!" "

Funeral of children who died of famine

Cases of cannibalism due to famine are frequent, and the government is helpless. In Jinbaozhai, the first district of Bazhong County, there is a 50-year-old poor peasant Zeng couple, with a pair of children, who make a living by renting out the land of the landlord. 1936 drought, no rain for half a year, no grass in the wild, the family starved on the road, so they had to beg along the street and didn't have enough to eat all day. On the twelfth day of the twelfth lunar month, the whole family was starving to death. At this time, I saw a starving beggar child on the side of the road. Later, the group found these two barrels of human flesh, thinking that they were eating live children and would be escorted to justice. The county government could not solve the case, and was finally acquitted, thinking that the whole family was hungry and cold, and it was not illegal to eat human flesh.

People used to eat people just to survive, but some people lost their humanity in disasters and became wild animals. There is a man named Kang Sanchun. " There is also a butcher who sells dead human flesh to make money in troubled times. First, he sells beef locally, but in fact he sells human flesh. Sometimes one or two people eat meat, and when he sees no one around, he kills the person who eats meat, and beef and human flesh are mixed together.

Sichuan famine lasted from 1936 to 1937, and gradually eased after several rains. However, this tragedy caused by famine in Sichuan history has remained in history forever.
