Summer in Lanzhou
I have lived in Lanzhou for nearly 40 years. From the climate alone, Lanzhou should be regarded as a livable city, because it is warm in winter and cool in summer. Of course, the warm winter here is compared with the cold northeast, and the cool summer is compared with the barbecue sauna weather in the south in summer.

Baidu noticed that the continental monsoon climate in Lanzhou is obvious, characterized by less precipitation and more sunshine. The climate is dry and the temperature difference between day and night is large. It's not cold in winter and not hot in summer. The lowest temperature in winter will not be lower than-15 degrees, and the highest temperature in summer will not exceed 40 degrees.

The whole summer begins in June and ends at the end of August. In fact, the hottest time is only seven or eight days. Even the hottest seven or eight days, it is not all hot. Only at noon can the highest temperature reach 37.8 degrees, and only 15.6 degrees in the morning and evening. Although it didn't reach the point of wearing leather clothes early and wearing yarn at noon, it was very comfortable and dry in the morning and evening. For some elderly people, it is also necessary to wear long sleeves in the morning and evening in dog days and sleep under the covers at night.

Because Lanzhou has little rainfall and dry climate, it is difficult to have a sweaty summer in Lanzhou unless it is exposed to the hot sun at noon. If there is no self-abuse tendency, even at the hottest noon, as long as you can find shade, you will definitely enjoy the cool.

I remember the first time I found my face was when I was an adult and went to college in other places.

At that time, I was studying in the northeast, and I didn't go home for a summer vacation and stayed at school. One day I felt strange on my face. When I looked in the mirror, I found a few drops of water hanging on my face. At that time, I wondered why people stayed well in the room and didn't get wet. Why is there water on their faces? After thinking for a long time, I suddenly realized that this is sweat!

Later, after a few summers in the south, I felt that the summer in Lanzhou was really comfortable. If the floor is not too high, there is no need to install air conditioning. In the south, summer is sultry from morning till night, and even the wind is hot. I remember one night I went out to enjoy the cool, and it got hotter and hotter after a walk, and I couldn't find a trace of coolness. It is really cool to enjoy the cool in the evening in Lanzhou.

As the sun goes down, the heat in the air gradually dissipates. The slight wind blows a little, blowing away the summer heat, the summer heat, the coolness and the comfort.

It is such a warm summer evening that Lanzhou people are also good at finding a cooler and more comfortable place to escape the heat-that is, drinking tea and chatting on a cruise ship by the Yellow River.

Lanzhou is the only city that is crossed by the Yellow River. The Yellow River divides Lanzhou into north and south banks, and some cruise ships that don't leave are moored on the river surface that is not too wide by savvy businessmen.

This cruise ship has two floors. There are many tables and chairs on the spacious deck, and some independent rooms have mahjong tables, which have become chess rooms.

Brew a cup of tea unique to Lanzhou-Sanpaotai, put on a dish of big melon seeds with Lanzhou characteristics, make friends with three or five people, chat while drinking tea, blow the river wind, and watch the Yellow River water roll away at your feet. This leisure is also a landscape of this city.

For me who have never lived in Lanzhou since I was a child, the best summer vacation memory stays in my childhood.

At that time, we lived with our parents in a small ravine not far from Lanzhou. It is neither a town nor a country, but a small station along the railway. Because my parents are railway workers and the units are railway units in this small station, my family, like many colleagues of my parents, live in such a small place. Although the place is small and well-equipped, there are schools, hospitals, cinemas and shops. The only regret is that there is no bookstore. If we want to buy books, we need to go about five kilometers away from home. For me at a young age, that is distance.

Because TV was not popular at that time and there are no electronic products now, the greatest pleasure for children is outdoor games. After dinner in the evening, all the children rushed out and gathered in the open space in front of and behind the house to play together. Adults will also sit in the shade with cattail leaf fans and chat.

As the sun goes down, the night gets deeper, and adults go home to do housework, we children don't go home until the adults call.

We have many games, and the most lively team games we can remember now are kicking boxes and hiding.

Kicking a box is to find an empty iron box, put it in an open place, send a keeper to look after it, while others hide around. The rule of the game is that when someone rushes out to kick the box, the box keeper must call out the name of the person who kicked the box. If you shout correctly, the person who kicked the box will come to guard the box. If the call is wrong, the keeper will continue to be responsible for guarding the box.

Although he was very young at that time, there were many smart people. Some smart people will propose to change clothes and rush out when the moon is dark and windy. The first person who wears other people's clothes and looks at the box can't see the face of kicking the box clearly, so he will shout the wrong name just by clothes. Whenever the storekeeper is cheated, shouting the wrong name and picking up the box helplessly, we who kick the box will shout excitedly to show victory.

Hide-and-seek is a bit quiet, hiding quietly in a corner in front of the house, afraid of being found too shallow and hidden too deep, and finally being forgotten by others. Many people fall asleep alone, because it is too deep to find.

If everyone is tired of playing, we will gather in the open space in front of my house, lean under the only street lamp and listen to two people telling stories.

Ermin, he is also one of our neighbor's children. Ermin is about five or six years older than me. Because he is the second child in the family, and there is a word "min" after his name, everyone calls him. I still don't know his name Ermin is special for three reasons.

First: two people don't have to go to school.

Ermin suffers from congenital cataract, and one eye or both eyes have a layer of white fog. He can't go to school because of his poor eyesight. At that time, when I was young, I didn't think it was a defect, but I was envious because he didn't have to get up early for school every day.

Second: they are knowledgeable.

Although Ermin has never been to school, he seems to know everything, from astronomy to geography. Of course, in retrospect, it should be because no one as old as him can play with such a small child as us.

For example, my three brothers, although only two or three to four or five years older than me, all look down on me, so they all look for their peers to play.

Only Ermin, his age, despises him, so he can only play with us children. He really seems to know everything in front of us.

Third: Ermin is about to have superpowers.

Ermin often tells us that his father contacted the hospital in Beijing, and when he is older, he will take him to Beijing to transplant the problematic eyes and replace them with dog eyes.

Ermin's family just keeps a lot of fierce big dogs. Every time I hear Ermin say that his eyes will be changed into dog eyes soon, I will take it for granted that those big dogs in their family are all for Ermin, and his father even prepared his dog eyes for transplantation.

Ermin's dog is different from other people's dogs. Other people's dogs are basically docile and won't hurt people. Some of them are just small and harmless to people and animals. Ermin's dog is different. His dogs are all big dogs, super fierce and often hurt people. I was bitten off a piece of meat on my thigh by his dog, and my English teacher was scared to death by Ermin's dog.

Think about Ermin's fierce dog, and then think about Ermin's erudition. Is the combination of the two more powerful and invincible? For these two smart and fierce people, my admiration is like a raging river.

At this time, it is full of mystery to look at Ermin's posture of tilting his head and squinting at people only from the corner of his eye, and to listen to Ermin's eloquent talk about the past and present, which makes me more convinced that Ermin is the spokesman of some mysterious force. And his unusual white eyes are the best proof.

Until now, I will often ask my old neighbors about the recent situation in Ermin. Ermin has never been to Beijing for a transplant. Of course, his eyes have not been changed into dog eyes, and they are still so white. Unmarried Ermin lives with his mother.
