Comrades and young friends: On this day of blooming spring and sowing hope, I am very happy to be here with the youth representatives from all fronts of the mine to celebrate the May 4th Youth Day and commend the advanced collectives and model individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the development of Wuyang. I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the party and government of the mine and in my own name, to express my cordial greetings to party member, a youth of the mine! The May 4th Movement XX years ago was a great patriotic youth movement against imperialism and feudalism, as well as a great ideological emancipation movement and a new cultural movement. The great spirit of patriotism, progress, democracy and science nurtured by the May 4th Movement inspired generations of young people and made immortal contributions to national liberation and the prosperity of the motherland. Today, the revolutionary torch lit by the May 4th Movement has reached the hands of contemporary youth. In the new journey of building a powerful international new coal group and a billion tons coal group in an all-round way, we review the course of the May 4th Movement and carry forward the spirit of the May 4th Movement. The youth mission of * * * is to mobilize and inspire the youth of the whole mine, inherit and carry forward the glorious tradition of the May 4th Movement, give play to the vanguard and commando role of the youth league members in the construction of the new Wuyang, and make contributions in the journey of building a powerful international new * * *.
Just now, Comrade Yan, deputy secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee, briefly reviewed and summarized the League building work in the past year and made comprehensive arrangements for this year's work. Comrade Li Jianhong, the mine manager, combined with the new situation and new tasks of mine strategic development, put forward ardent hopes and higher requirements for everyone. Below, I would like to make the following comments:
First of all, we must strengthen our faith and aim high. Ideals and beliefs are the goal direction of life, an important driving force to achieve career and a spiritual pillar to overcome difficulties. If a person does not have firm ideals and beliefs, it will inevitably lead to emptiness of thought, listlessness and loss of direction in life. Patriotism, progress, democracy and science are the essence of the May 4th Movement spirit, a portrayal of the indomitable spirit of the Chinese nation, and a glorious tradition that every Chinese son and daughter should inherit and carry forward. Patriotism and progress are concrete, not abstract. Today, when we talk about patriotism and progress, we mean to unite sincerely, work hard, concentrate our wisdom and strength, and develop and build a brand-new Wuyang. This is the fundamental interests of the workers and the masses in the whole mine, and it is also the deepest connotation of patriotic progress. Party member, a young man in the whole mine, should establish a correct world outlook, outlook on life and values, enhance his political acumen, improve his ability to distinguish right from wrong, consciously turn his lofty ideals and beliefs and patriotic enthusiasm into practical actions to love, build and develop Wuyang, and unify his thoughts and actions with the work arrangements and requirements of the group and the mining party and government. Concentrate wisdom and strength on the strong and international new * * * strategy and the development of large-scale coal groups of 100 million tons, bravely shoulder the sacred mission entrusted by the times, realize their own value in the process of fully promoting the strategic development of Wuyang, and contribute their youth and wisdom to the comprehensive construction of a new Wuyang with characteristics of the times and strong strength.
Second, we must study hard and succeed in our posts. Youth is a period of learning knowledge, increasing talents and gaining momentum, and it is also an important stage to consolidate the foundation of life. All members of the youth league should cherish their precious years, establish the concept of lifelong learning, be diligent in learning, be sensitive to knowledge, be brave in exploration, and strive to be a model and a pioneer in the spirit of seizing every minute and waiting for no time.
