Creation background
He used to be Yin, a doctor in Yuan Dynasty Imperial Hospital. However, he is a great writer in the history of China literature and the founder of China opera. He is engaged in opera creation in his spare time, and has created a large number of opera works such as Dou Eyuan, Lu Zhailang and Butterfly Dream.
The rulers of the Yuan Dynasty carried out the policy of discrimination and repression against the Han people, which made a large number of talented literati have nowhere to go and turned to artistic creation.
At the same time, the development of military drama, storytelling and zaju since the Tang and Song Dynasties provided artistic preparation for the emergence of Yuanqu and made it possible. The urban economy was also very prosperous in the Yuan Dynasty, and the appearance of a large number of urban civilians needed corresponding entertainment activities to serve them.
