Although Yuan Shao is known as a noble family of "Four Kingdoms, Three Fairs", his early years were not satisfactory. As a knighted Yuan Shao, he is actually no match for Yuan Shu. With his ability, popularity and luck (adopted by Cheng Yuan, who is handsome and dignified in appearance, and loved by Yuan Feng and Wei Yuan), Yuan Shao succeeded in gaining most support and resources from Yuan Jia, making Yuan Shu, who was originally born, more like an illegitimate child.
This is also the root cause that Yuan Shu and Yuan Shao have not dealt with. In the environment of ancient patriarchal clan system, the eldest son naturally has the legal right to inherit, but Yuan Shao seems to have easily broken this iron law, which made Yuan Shu angry all his life.
After becoming the new head of Yuan Jia, the benefits rolled in. Yuan Shao, who was only 20 years old, became a magistrate of Puyang County, and he has a reputation of being honest and capable. Soon after, Yuan Shao's parents (adoptive parents) died one after another. Yuan Shao mourned for this for six years and lived in seclusion in Luoyang.
At a young age, Yuan Shao mastered the rights of the head of the Cjay family. Although Yuan Shao is not in officialdom, he has broken through such a big brand. "The Book of the Later Han Dynasty" said: "Since I am tired of Taiwan, my guests have returned, and my festivals have been exhausted, I will strive to go to court. I have no dignity, but on the contrary, the streets are full." Even Zhong Zhao, one of the ten regular attendants, was alarmed. "Yuan Benchu sat quietly and raised the dead. I don't know what this son will do. " Uncle Wei Yuan blamed Yuan Shao, who didn't change his mind.
It can be seen that although Yuan Shao has the title of four generations and three publics, he obviously does not depend entirely on the family. Otherwise, Yuan Shu, who is from the same background and even better than Yuan Shao, will not end up "buried". What's more, the so-called "four generations and three publics" is not so great. The Yang Xiu family and Yu Xun family, who also won this honor, are both called "Four Worlds, Three Fairs", even more than that. Yu Xun's family spread from Xunzi in the Warring States period (the teacher of Li Si and Han Fei) to the Three Kingdoms in the late Han Dynasty, which was much better than Yuan Shao's IV Sangong.
Even Sima Yi, the winner of the Three Kingdoms, was a talented schemer who subverted the Han Dynasty, but he just followed the old path of Yuan Shao.
At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the rule of the Eastern Han Dynasty was crumbling due to several disasters in which different parties fought against each other. Eunuchs, consorts and gentry clashed with each other, and the struggle for rights became more and more fierce. After six years of seclusion, Yuan Shao, as the leader of the cremation, made many friends with party member, and it was more than enough to help his consort blades seize power with Yuan Shao's influence. However, it is doubtful that Yuan Shao has lost his standard several times. Is Yuan Shao really inferior to Cao Cao?
Not necessarily, it is easy for Yuan Shao to help He Jin destroy the eunuch, but the power of the consorts still crushed the cremation, and Yuan Shao or the cremation can't wait to step onto the political stage. In fact, although consorts and eunuchs were two major cancers in the Eastern Han Dynasty, they were also two pillars of the royal family in the Eastern Han Dynasty. After the consorts and eunuchs were completely eradicated, the emperor's rights could only be monopolized by the cremation, and Yuan Shao could naturally become a new generation of pioneers.
When the Yellow Scarf Uprising broke out and the party ban was lifted, Yuan Shao, who had been planning for a long time, began a conspiracy plan to subvert the Eastern Han Dynasty. First, he encouraged Blade to destroy eunuchs. Under Yuan Shao's intention to release water, blades felt unsustainable, so Dong Zhuo, the most important chess piece in the plan, completely eliminated the imperial power and disintegrated the prestige of the court.
Cao Cao said that it is enough to kill eunuchs with only one leader, so why call local generals to Beijing? And this faint move is exactly Yuan Shao's proposal. It can be said that the thorough rolling of the Eastern Han Dynasty in the depths lies in this opinion. So Yuan Shao really doesn't know the consequences of Dong Zhuo's entry into Beijing? Obviously not. Who is the ultimate beneficiary of Dong Zhuo's entry into Beijing?
Is it Dong Zhuo? Is it a blade? Obviously not. It was Yuan Shao, the leader of the 18th Route Warlord, who successfully seized the opportunity to annex the land of the four states. Dong Zhuo actually wanted to make a difference when he entered Beijing, but he obviously underestimated the influence of the royal family and the gentry. Dong Zhuo is actually not a lout in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, but a well-read person, but anyone in Dong Zhuo's position will be notorious unless he can give up the military power himself like Huang Fusong. Dong Zhuo is obviously not a self-disciplined person, nor is he a person who is willing to abide by the rules of the political circle in the Eastern Han Dynasty. So Dong Zhuo succeeded in crushing the dignity and power of the royal family in the Eastern Han Dynasty, and the majesty of the emperor fell to the lowest point in history.
"The Book of the Later Han Dynasty": In a moment, Zhuo proposed to abolish Li, saying that Shao Yue said, "The master of the world should be wise, and often thinking about the spiritual emperor makes people angry and poisonous. Dong Hou seems to be able to do it, and it should be established today. " Shao Yue said, "The world is rich in spring and autumn, and no evil is done to show the world. If the public violates the ceremony, they will abandon the shackles and stand up, fearing that the public will be uneasy. " Zhuo brandished a knife at Shao, saying, "How dare you stand! Isn't me important in this world? I want to do it, who dares not to do it! " Shao Shuo said to him, "Please come out and discuss the major events in this country with your teacher." Zhuo said: "Liu's species are insufficient." Shao was furious and said, "Dong Gong is the only healthy person in the world!" Cross knife goes out of town. Hanging in the east gate, I went to Jizhou.
Yuan Shao first brushed a wave of prestige on Dong Zhuo, then ran away, so Yuan Shao, who dared to clear his country's name, was loyal, fearless of power and famous. Dong Zhuo is also afraid of the reputation of Yuan Shao and Yuan Shao's family. Instead, he gave Yuan Shao a prefect position in Bohai Sea.
Let's tidy up. It was Yuan Shao's idea that blades killed eunuchs and called Dong Zhuo into Beijing. Yuan Shao was the first to oppose Dong Zhuo. In the end, it was Yuan Shao who succeeded in becoming the leader of the eighteen-route warlord (in fact, there was no eighteen-route warlord, only romance), and it was Yuan Shao who criticized Dong. Regardless of romance or reflection, Yuan Shaolian didn't bring Yan Liang and Wen Chou.
That is, Sun Jian and Cao Cao got up the courage to attack Dong Zhuo. People with discerning eyes naturally know that anti-Dong is just a fig leaf for the cremation. The gentry wanted to replace the Eastern Han Dynasty and didn't want to end it in person, so they let Dong Zhuo wreak havoc. Yuan Shao, as the savior, completely destroyed the wolves and naturally found a new dynasty.
The same is true of Sima Yi's later period. Cao Shuang's outrageous behavior disappointed most of the gentry, even including the ministers and generals loyal to Cao Wei. Cao Shuang's series of coquettish operations made Wei's national strength decline, and many people with lofty ideals felt uneasy, hoping that a teacher would uphold justice. Sun Li, the secretariat of Bingzhou, went to Sima Yi to complain. Sima Yi comforted him and said, "That's enough."
Sima Yi, who had high hopes, abolished Cao Shuang in the name of Queen Mother Guo through mutiny. When Cao Shuang had the emperor's trump card, he lured Cao Shuang to surrender as a "rich man" and finally succeeded in mastering the military and political power.
Yuan Shao's real failure is that although he is a talented politician, he is not a warlord who can wipe out the crowd.
In fact, Yuan Shao paid little attention to people's livelihood during the Three Kingdoms period. In troubled times, local warlords tried their best to tap the potential of war, but Yuan Shao, who owns four states, didn't. When Yuan Shao died, the people of Hebei were all sad, which shows that Yuan Shao won the hearts of the people.
Yuan Shao is particularly deadly because he is used to officialdom and unfamiliar with the battlefield. When the Eastern Han Dynasty was successfully disintegrated, there was no will, tolerance and strategy to destroy the heroes. Yuan Shao won Jizhou's soldiers without bloodshed, relying on conspiracy and political means. Gongsun Zan was defeated by Quyi, but Gao Zhen killed Mi Zhu for his merits.
He missed Emperor Xian of Han Dynasty several times and deliberately attacked Yuan Shao of the Eastern Han Dynasty. He really looked down on Dong Zhuo's Han Xiandi and ignored the appeal of Han Xiandi's banner.
It is easy to annex Hebei, but it is not easy to digest the gentry and generals in Hebei. Yuan Shao has been familiar with and accustomed to the balance of officialdom because he has been deeply involved in officialdom for a long time. Under the rule, the struggle between Hebei and Henan never stopped. Yuan Shao did not suppress it, but made great efforts to balance it, which can be said to be a taboo for foreign countries.
During the war, Xu You's family was punished for greed, which prompted Xu You to go to Cao Cao, which led to a crushing defeat in the battle of Guandu, which was also the result of the struggle between factions in Hebei, Shandong and Henan. As early as after defeating Gongsun Zan, Guo Tu opposed the suggestion of slow killing Cao Cao put forward by the great hand, and the two factions were already in full swing.
Chen Xun, Guo Tu, Xin Ping and Xin Pi, brothers of Yingchuan School (Henan), military commander Chun Yuqiong, and Xu You, a Nanyang native adjacent to Yingchuan School, were originally from the edge of Hebei Province and took refuge in Yingchuan School. Jushou, Tian Feng, Shen Pei and Zhang He, military commanders, are all local scholars in Hebei. It was Shen Pei who arrested the Xu You family in Guandu, Guo Tu who persuaded Zhang He to surrender to Cao Cao, and Ji Feng who killed Tian Feng.
Therefore, the fundamental reason for the failure of the battle of Guandu was factional struggle, but in fact, even if the battle of Guandu failed, Yuan Shao's strength was still the strongest at that time, and Cao Cao was still inferior to Yuan Shao.
The bad thing is that Yuan Shao hasn't learned his lesson yet. Yuan Shao, whose heart is higher than the sky, simply looks down on his omniscient brother Cao Cao. The defeat of Guandu made Yuan Shao easily ill. He died before he could arrange an heir, and the Yuan Shao Group with sharp factional struggle collapsed. Guo Tu, Xin Ping and Xin Pi of Yingchuan Group supported Yuan Tan, while Shen Pei and Ji Feng of Hebei supported Yuan Shang. The two factions did not hesitate to meet each other, and finally took advantage of Cao Cao.
Although Yuan Shao is not so miserable, he is obviously not a qualified master. He cherishes his reputation, has a strong celebrity demeanor, is a talented schemer, a failed warlord, and has chaotic rule. He was not defeated by himself in the end. But it opened the prelude for the gentry to reach the political peak. Although history made a big turn, it finally returned to the main line of gentry politics.
