After Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty succeeded to the throne, Empress Dowager Deng listened to the court, but she still did a lot of things. In view of some disadvantages of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Deng first took effective measures. First of all, we are against obscenity. Secondly, Queen Deng believes that education should be the main way to govern the country, and punishment can only be used as an auxiliary means. In May of the first year of Yanping, an Amnesty was issued, and all offenders were released as civilians, and the world was ruled by judo. Third, during the 80 years from the establishment of the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Shang Emperor, maids kept entering the palace, which made them like a cloud, resulting in a situation of "complaining about their wives at home and abandoning their husbands abroad", which increased the financial expenditure of the Han court. Queen Deng entered the palace at an early age, and she knew it very well. In June of the first year of Yanping, 500 or 600 people were rescued from the imperial secretary, the old, the weak and the sick.
In April of the first year of Yanping, the Xianbei people in Liaodong suddenly attacked Yuyang County and returned to their hometown after the disaster. Zhang Xian, the fisherman's satrap, flew into a rage after receiving the report and called hundreds of brothers to pursue the retreating Xianbei people. Xianbei people gradually introduced the Han army into the danger zone, and ordered Zhang Xian not to pursue it, so as not to be ambushed by Xianbei people. Yanshou suggested camping first, sending hussars to inquire, and then chasing. Yan Shouyi's idea is safe, but Zhang Xian won't listen. On the contrary, he thought that Yan Shouyi was timid and almost killed Yan Shouyi on the spot. Finally, although Zhang Xian didn't take the lead, he didn't follow Yan Shouyi's advice and ordered a quick pursuit. As a result, he was really attacked by Xianbei people. Zhang was shot dead by an arrow, and the foot soldiers fled in all directions. Only Zhang Xian, who was called a coward, did not escape, but killed many enemies. He was injured more than ten times and finally died. Hearing the news of the battle of Yuyang, Deng was deeply moved. He personally wrote articles praising the martyrs, gave their families a lot of money as rewards, and promoted their children to senior officials.
In addition to adjusting and eliminating some disadvantages, Queen Deng also attached great importance to thrift and persuading farmers. In June of the first year of Yanping, the imperial decree reduced the consumption of food, curtains and rare treasures. Since then, the number of state tributes has been ordered to be only half of the original. Toys such as Jinxiu, Bingwan, Xu Xian Border, gold and silver, jewels, tortoise shells and sculptures managed by the Forbidden City, Fangshang and Weaving Department will no longer be produced, saving huge financial expenditure.
However, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty was not only the youngest emperor to succeed to the throne in history, but also the emperor with the shortest reign. In August of the first year of Yanping, 19 1 1, Queen Deng Sui issued an imperial edict, and Liu Long, who had been in office for only 220 days, quietly passed away at the age of one.
