Pingjiang Road is the most famous historical and cultural street in Suzhou, and it is also a must for tourists to visit Suzhou. Officially named "Pingjiang Road Historic District", as early as the Southern Song Dynasty, it was the most prosperous business district in Suzhou Dongcheng at that time. The ancient houses with white walls and gray tiles were built in parallel with the canal, willow branches were hung everywhere, and red lanterns hung by every household were arranged on the banks of the green water.
2. Shantang Street: the light and shadow of Shuijie, the starting point of Deng Hua.
Shantang Street is seven miles long, so it is also called "Qili Shantang", which has a history of 1200 years. Shantang Old Street only occupies 306 meters, but it gathers the essence of the whole Shantang District, also known as "the first street in Gusu". Different from Pingjiang Road, it seems that there are still traces of the life of the residents of Shuijie. The first half of each household is the front door of the old street storefront or house, and the back door yard is close to the water street. There are even small steps moving into the water, making it easier for residents to get water or get on and off the boat.
3. Taohuawu: Simple Daily Life in Wonderland
As can be seen from the name, the most fun time in Taohuawu is spring, when peach blossoms are in full bloom. Taohuawu was named after the peach trees planted on both sides of Taohua River, the first river crossing in Tang and Song Dynasties. Different from the bustling and crowded Pingjiang Road and Shantang Street. The streets and lanes of Taohuawu are the most primitive features of residents' life. When the peach blossom is in full bloom, it is as beautiful as a fairyland and unforgettable. It is a tasteful historical block.
4. Shiquan Street: a celebrity gentleman who takes quiet in troubled times.
Formerly known as "Shiquan Street", it was named after ten ancient wells. There are 8 bridges in Shiquan Street: Brick Bridge, Infinite Bridge, Xingzao Bridge, Daicheng Bridge, Shipyard Bridge, Fifth Bridge, Fumin Bridge and Dicilian Bridge. From Wuque Bridge to Renmin Road in the west, it was originally called Dataiping Lane, then merged into Youyi Road, and finally collectively called this name. To the east, the Fifth Bridge is a big house area, simple and quiet, with celebrities everywhere.
5. Xietang Old Street: the most literary water town in Jiangnan.
Looking up is carving beams and painting buildings, and looking down is paving tiles. Every flower and tree has been carefully designed, and the collocation of plants is extremely exquisite, showing different levels and colors with the change of seasons. Focusing on "cultural brand" is a major feature of Xietang Old Street, which brings together many old-fashioned specialty stores, manual workshops, art studios, museums, art galleries and other new cultural and economic formats.
