Mogao Grottoes, located in Dunhuang City at the western end of Hexi Corridor in Gansu Province, commonly known as Thousand Buddha Cave, has always been famous for its exquisite murals and Buddha statues. Together with Longmen Grottoes, Yungang Grottoes and Maijishan Grottoes, it is also known as the four major grottoes in China, and was listed as a world cultural heritage in 1987.
