In the history of poetry evaluation, there has always been a saying of "praising Li and belittling Du" and "praising Du and belittling Li". What do you think of these two statements?
Yang Du belittled Li: Yuan Zhen, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, said that "there has never been a poet as beautiful as a child", right? The other five or seven words are ancient and close to the body, singing songs and Yuefu, Du Lidu is a famous artist, and they are basically set by coffins. (Finally, Du Fu's Seven Laws were far less respected in the Tang Dynasty than those after Huang Tingjian's time, and the special creation of Du Fu's Seven Laws in the Tang Dynasty was never deeply explored, only Li Yishan was a little authentic). Therefore, Yuan Zhen's admiration for Du Fu was entirely due to Du Fu's unique skills in the "five-character law" that intoxicated Bai Yuan, and Li Bai, who died early, didn't have time to write the same five-character law as Da Fu. (When a certain poetic style reaches its peak, it tends to be fu style, as Zhou Bangyan and the Southern Song Dynasty long tune said. ) Because of this, Bai Yuan's unique cognition makes Du Li different in their eyes. Therefore, Yuan Zhen did not talk nonsense at all, nor did he praise Du Fu to the sky, nor did he stink at Li Bai. What he said was true and a classic judgment that could stand scrutiny. It's just that later generations like to take Yuan Gong's profound exposition out of context, and regard it as the declaration of Ting Du. This is an analysis with colored glasses, which is not enough. Or I didn't understand Yuan Zhen's article at all, that's all.
