Yunnan University Tourism and Culture College was founded in Lijiang in 2002, and was recognized as an independent college by the Ministry of Education in 2004. Located in Lijiang City with a long history and beautiful environment, the College is the only undergraduate college in northwest Yunnan. Lijiang Normal University is a provincial public full-time college approved by the Ministry of Education, and the only public college in northwest Yunnan. The school started from 1906 Lijiang High School Simple Normal Department, and 19 13 was transformed into the sixth normal school in the province. National Lijiang Normal School was founded in 1942, and Lijiang Institute of Education was established on the basis of 1984 normal college class. In 2006, Lijiang Institute of Education was transformed into Lijiang Teachers College.
