Hydromanganese ore is a kind of alkaline manganese hydroxide, second only to pyrolusite and pyrolusite, which can be used to extract manganese. Dark steel gray to iron black, dark brown stripes, sometimes close to black, semi-metallic luster, with plane and cylindrical cleavage. Mohs hardness 4, specific gravity 4.33. Manganese ore history
The utilization of manganese minerals has a long history. The earliest countries in the world are Egypt, ancient Rome, India and China. The history of using manganese ore in China can be traced back to Yangshao culture (painted pottery culture) in Neolithic age from 4500 to 7000 years ago. Because of pyrolusite soil, it is black and easy to dye hands. In the eyes of the ancients, it was a wonderful pottery coloring pigment.
