What is the average life expectancy of ancient emperors? Why is the emperor short-lived?
There are 302 emperors with exact dates of birth and death from Qin Shihuang to Puyi, and the average life expectancy of these 302 emperors is 44 years old. Looking through the historical data of China feudal dynasty, only six emperors lived over 80 years. They are Zhao Tuo, emperor of South Vietnam, aged 103 (about 240 BC-BC 137), and Li Hong, emperor of Qianlong in Qing Dynasty, aged 89 (171-kloc-0/799). Emperor Zhao Gou of the Southern Song Dynasty was 8 1 year old (A.D.107-187), and Kublai Khan, the ancestor of the Yuan Dynasty, was 80 years old (A.D.1215-/kloc).

Only 12 is over 70 years old. They are Ma Yin, the King of Chu and Wu in the Ten Kingdoms Period, aged 79 (852-930 AD), Wang Jian, the great ancestor of Shu before the Ten Kingdoms Period, aged 72 (847-9 18 AD), and Gao Jixing in Nanping in the Five Dynasties Period, aged 7 1 year (858-928 AD). Liu Che, the Emperor of the Han Dynasty, was 70 years old (BC 156- 87 BC), and Sun Quan of the Three Kingdoms Dongwu was 7 1 year old (AD 182-252).

Tang Gaozong Li Yuan is 70 years old (AD 566-635), Li Longji, the Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, is 78 years old (AD 685-762), Yelu Hongji, the Taoist Sect of Liao Dynasty, is 70 years old (AD1032-1kloc-0/year), and Li Renxiao, the Emperor Renzong of Xixia, is 70 years old.

According to the average life expectancy in ancient times, these emperors lived the longest.

But I don't know if you have noticed that among the more than 300 people, short-lived emperors account for the majority, and there are more than 120 people under 40 years old, of which more than 60 people died under 30 years old and 25 people died under 20 years old. Liu Long, the emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty, had the shortest life span. He sat in the dragon chair only one hundred days after his birth and died only eight months later. It can be said that in modern times, they all died young. In proportion, the average life expectancy is only 44 years. So why did the life span of ancient emperors be so short? There are five reasons:

First, occupation is a high-risk occupation. There is only one emperor in the world, and everyone wants to be one, but what if that position is already occupied? Not difficult. In addition to sending troops to rebel, it is all kinds of assassination and poisoning. As the saying goes, it takes less than a thousand days to be a thief, but even if it is a hundred secrets, it will eventually be sparse. Therefore, the first reason for short life is the risk of the profession itself.

Second, send the peerless beauties collected throughout the palace to the harem. The son of heaven is also a mortal. Seeing so many beautiful women, it is naturally difficult to control yourself. It is not uncommon for an ancient emperor to die in a woman's stomach.

Third, the medical conditions at that time were backward in ancient times, and many diseases could not be cured. Like infectious diseases such as malaria, they can only resign themselves to fate. Even the emperor's illness can only rely on the medical skills at that time. Many people who die of illness don't even know their own cause of death. Emperors who believe in immortality like to eat lead and mercury as elixirs, and there are also a few who flavor themselves.

Fourth, genetic defects The ancients especially liked closeness, so consanguineous marriage was too common. Just like Jia Baoyu and Lin Daiyu, they are all close relatives, not to mention paying attention to the royal family with orthodox descent, so some emperors are short-lived because of their inherent shortcomings.

Fifth, the spirit is highly nervous. The emperor has a high position, and the heights are too cold. So there are usually some delusions of persecution. In addition, a country's military, political and financial power needs the emperor to balance, and it is really common for some diligent emperors to die of overwork.

Of course, if we look at the average life expectancy in the history of our country, it is indeed very low, with constant wars, no fixed place to live and malnutrition. Compared with the current living standard, it was far from being achieved in ancient times, but the short life of these emperors was caused by many reasons.
