Bosten Lake is a mountain collapse lake, and its main recharge source is Kaidu River, which is also the source of Peacock River. The body of Bosten Lake can be divided into two parts: large lake and small lake. The area of great lakes is nearly 1000 square kilometers, while the area of small lakes is only 100 square kilometers. Sui Shu records that this lake has the benefits of fish, salt, reed and reed. Reed from Guang Mao grows around the lake area and is an important reed production base in China. In addition, Bosten Lake is rich in all kinds of freshwater fish and is the largest fishery production base in Xinjiang. ?
In 2002, Bosten Lake area was rated as a national key scenic spot, belonging to a scenic natural scenic spot in natural lake waters, involving Bohu, Yanqi, Heshuo and Korla. In May, 20 14, Bosten Lake Scenic Area was rated as a national 5A-level scenic spot and became the eighth national 5A-level scenic spot in Xinjiang.
Formation and evolution
Yanqi Basin, where Bosten Lake is located, belongs to the intermontane fault basin of the South Tianshan orogenic belt, and was once a part of Guttari wooden block in geological history. Its formation and evolution can be traced back to the pre-Sinian period about 800 million years ago. The neotectonic movement, which began at the end of Neogene about 2.5 million years ago, caused large-scale differential ups and downs in this area. The old faults in the southern margin of Bosten Lake and the new faults in the northern margin are active, and the Bosten Lake area between the faults begins to subside strongly.
The Kaidu River in the upper reaches of Bosten Lake is also strongly incised due to the subsidence of Dos Basin and Yanqi Basin in Yulu and the uplift of the quasi-plain between the two basins, forming a 50-kilometer Kaidu River Grand Canyon. In addition, most of the mountains at the source of Kaidu Lake are raised above the snow line, so that atmospheric precipitation is stored in the form of snow and ice, and Bosten Lake is really formed after years of continuous water supply.
