Vietnam War (English: Vietnam War; 1955-1975), also known as the second indo-zhina war, is a war between South Vietnam (Republic of Vietnam) supported by capitalist countries such as the United States and North Vietnam (Democratic Republic of Vietnam) and the "South Vietnam National Liberation Front" supported by eastern bloc countries such as the Soviet Union and China. It happened in Vietnam (the main battlefield), Laos and Cambodia during the Cold War. The first American president to help South Vietnam was Eisenhower. John fitzgerald kennedy began to support the Vietnam War; Lyndon johnson expanded the war. During Nixon's administration, the United States gradually withdrew its troops from Vietnam because of the domestic anti-war wave. The Vietnamese People's Army (North Vietnamese Army) and the Viet Cong guerrillas finally defeated the Republic of Vietnam Army (South Vietnamese Army) and unified the whole of Vietnam. The Vietnam War was the most influential war that the United States participated in after World War II, and finally the United States was defeated in the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War was a real battle under the Cold War. With the support of President Ho Chi Minh of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the Vietnamese rebels, the Southern Vietnam National Liberation Front, who hoped to unify Vietnam, overthrew the government of President Wu Tingyan of the Republic of Vietnam. America sent troops to help the Republic of Vietnam. Finally, because of the anti-war wave at home, the United States gradually withdrew its national defense forces from Vietnam. The Vietnamese People's Army and the South Vietnamese National Liberation Front finally overthrew the Republic of Vietnam and unified the whole country.
