Plot: The film received seven nominations, including 1994 Golden Bear Award at Berlin Film Festival and Best Actor and Best Film at the 66th Academy Awards. The film is based on real events in Britain. Conlon, an Irish youth, was accused of participating in the terrorist activities of bombing two British bars planned by the Irish Peace Corps and was wrongly sentenced to life imprisonment. His father and aunt were implicated. When he served his sentence to 15, with the help of a capable female lawyer, the unjust case was finally rehabilitated. Because the film exposed and criticized the darkness of the British judicial system and police institutions, it aroused strong response from the audience.
