Why are there so many Muslims in Linqing?
Immigrants. There is a village in Linqing called Heizhuang, almost all of which are Muslims. Linqing has 1.6 million Hui people, most of whom live in urban areas. Tracing back to the source, Chang Yuchun, a general in the early Ming Dynasty, was stationed in Linqing, and the returning soldiers loved folk customs and settled here. After the canal was opened, Hui compatriots came to settle down and do business, so another reason for the large number of Hui people in Linqing was immigration.
