Island history of East Island
Professor Sun of China University of Science and Technology conducted a long-term investigation in Xisha Islands, revealing the secrets of the ancient tsunami that happened around A.D. 1024. The tsunami may have destroyed the life of Xisha East Island.

The island was developed earlier, and there are Xiaoshimiao ruins in the northeast and southwest of the island.

In A.D. 1905, when Guangdong Navy patrolled the sea, it named the island after the hometown of Guangdong Governor Zhang.

1935, the government of the Republic of China announced its name as "Kong Lin Island".

1947, the government of the Republic of China announced the name "Wu He Island" to commemorate 16 th century Philippine leader Pan Wu He who resisted the Spanish colonial uprising.

1983, People's Republic of China (PRC) announced its name as "East Island".
