Later, Cao Cao accepted the "Nine Tin" given by Emperor Xian of Han Dynasty, specifically: clothes, Zhu Hu, Bi Na, chariots and horses, music, bows and arrows, etc.
It was originally an honorary item given by the emperor to the minister.
The court of the Eastern Jin Dynasty gave Huan, Bao Bao, Ban Jian and others many times, but most of them refused.
The problem is that the so-called Nine Tin has been accepted by Wang Mang, Cao Cao and Si Mazhao. Later, the founding emperors of Song, Qi, Liang and Chen all received "Nine Tin", so "Nine Tin" became synonymous with usurpation.
In the past, powerful ministers such as Cao Cao and Sun Quan all added nine tin, so what is nine tin?
I take Cao Pi's Sun Quan Plus Nine Tin as an example to illustrate.
In November of the 25th year of Jian 'an in Han Dynasty (AD 220), when Cao Pi, Emperor Wen of Wei, ascended the throne, Sun Quan sent someone to give the captured general Wei Yu Jin to Wei and made him a vassal. Xelloss was very happy. He conferred Sun Quan as the King of Wu, and sent Xing Zhen, who was in charge of the festival too often, to give Sun Quan a book, the first to the first metal rollers and the first to the tenth left bamboo rollers, and appointed Sun Quan as the general of the festival (now Guangdong and Guangxi) to take charge of the animal husbandry in Jingzhou (restoring the title to Hou Zhiyin, the general of a title of generals in ancient times).
Here we see that Cao Pi added nine tin to Sun Quan, which is actually nine kinds of articles, which is the highest reward for courtiers. Looking at history, courtiers only usurped the throne after adding nine tin, and it is not far from being proclaimed emperor.
Interpretation of the Nine Seals: Nine kinds of objects that ancient emperors paid homage to the heroes or served.
As can be seen from the explanation, Nine Tin is nine kinds of artifacts, and only those who make contributions or some of them are eligible to get it, but most people can't get it.
What are nine kinds of utensils?
One horse and chariots, two clothes, three musical instruments, four Hu, five Nabi, six samurai, seven bows and arrows, eight axes and cymbals and nine cymbals.
This word is pronounced ju chang.
Maybe you have to ask: What are these nine things? What's the use?
Cao Pi's imperial edict says this (I translated it into vernacular): 1. Because you (Sun Quan) appeased the southeast, Jiangnan (then called Yangzhou) was well governed, the people and Yi people (then called Yue people) lived and worked in peace and contentment, and no one rebelled against the court, so I gave you a cart and an honor. 2. Because you reward farming, enrich the national treasury and enrich the people, I give you a dress hat embroidered with dragons and a pair of red etiquette shoes; 3. Because you educate the people with virtue (this is the basic duty of ancient shepherds), and the etiquette is prosperous, I gave you a set of Zhong Qing musical instruments hanging on three sides; Because you have well guided social customs and influenced foreigners, I gave you the mansion of Hongmen (Zhuhu Lake). Because of your talent and strategy, people who are loyal to the monarch and virtuous can be an official in the court, serve the country, and give you a position (set up steps to climb up) to handle political affairs in the temple; 6. Because you are loyal and brave, you can destroy evil villains and give you 100 samurai guards (usually private security forces set up by Jiuxi people themselves); 7. Because your literary talent makes Jiangdong stable, united internally and convinced externally, I will give you a red bow and a hundred red arrows. Ten black bows and a thousand black arrows; 8. Because of your great prestige, you showed the military power of the imperial court, eliminated cruelty, punished sinners (I think it means that Sun Quan captured Jingzhou and killed Guan Yu), and gave you a straw cutter (hoe, ancient instruments of torture; Bronze cymbals are an ancient weapon, shaped like an axe and equipped with wooden handles, which are used for chopping and killing. (Generally, ministers who are given bronze cymbals can make special conquests, and those who do not obey the court can act first and then act, which has great power. As a courtier, I am respectful and thrifty to the court. I'll give you a cup of mellow wine (that is, wine brewed with black millet and vanilla, which is usually used for sacrifice) with a jade wine ladle.
The introduction of Jiuxi in Cao Pi's imperial edict ends here.
What I want to say here is that since the Western Zhou Dynasty, the addition of nine tin is a reward for meritorious ministers or people who have contributed to the country. The original intention was to encourage people to serve the country (including the ancient court).
However, with Wang Mang, Cao Cao and others successively adding Nine Tin to usurp the country, it was gradually derogatory.
It can be seen from adding nine tin to Sun Quan that this is a reward for those who protect the country and love the people, educate the people, live in harmony with the people, and serve the country faithfully.
So look at the problem in many ways and don't ignore its beautiful essence.
