Bokelohbatlyssavirus (BBLV) was isolated from the brain of MyotisNattererii, a sick bat found in Bokeloh, Germany in 2009.

The virus was isolated from bat brain tissue, with the highest homology of 80%. Followed by Alawan virus, 79%; European bat rabies virus -2(EBLV-2), 70%; Australian bat rabies virus, 77%; European bat rabies virus (EBLV- 1), 77%; Irkut river virus, 76%; SHIBV,76%; Rabies virus, 73% ~ 75%; Du Wen Hagen virus, 75%; Lagos bat virus, 72% ~ 74%; Mokola virus, 72%; West Caucasus bat virus, 72%.
The virus is a member of rabies virus, but its clear public health significance has not been found.
