The modern history of China can be divided into two stages. The first stage was from the Opium War in 1840 to the eve of the May 4th Movement in19/9, which was the stage of the old democratic revolution. The second stage is from the May 4th Movement in 19 19 to the eve of the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1949, which is the stage of new-democratic revolution.
The expansion materials of the first period were from the Opium War to the Revolution of 1911 (1840-1911), that is, the modernization efforts of the Qing Dynasty in the last few decades of rule generally experienced three basic stages: the Westernization Movement, the Hundred Days Reform and the "New Deal" in the late Qing Dynasty, which belonged to the feudal modernization type;
The second period is from the Revolution of 1911 to the birth of New China (19 12- 1949). The Xinhai Revolution of 19 1 marked a new stage of China's modernization, that is, the modernization of the capitalist model during the Republic of China.
The Revolution of 1911 ended the feudal monarchy, and for the first time, China established a bourgeois republic-the provisional government of the Republic of China. It took an important step in China's transition from autocracy to democracy, and opened the political modernization of China. However, the modernization of capitalist model has been destroyed by warlord melee and political disputes, and the invasion of Japanese imperialism has also interrupted the promotion of capitalist modernization model sponsored by Kuomintang.
After the end of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, representing two different fates of China, experienced a four-year civil war contest, which ended in the defeat of Taiwan Province Province because of the corruption and incompetence of the Kuomintang government itself, and China * * * created a new China.
In the third period (1949 to the present), * * * began to lead the people of China on the road of socialist modernization after gaining the leading role in modernization, and from then on, China * * * began a new period of mobilizing the people of China to carry out modernization movement.
