800 prototype
"800" is adapted from a real event, and the true prototype story and ending of the film have become a major focus. Eight hundred heroes's archetypal story comes from the battle of two battles in Shanghai. "Eight Hundred" is a war film with the theme of defending the four-row warehouse in the Battle of Songhu. It tells the story of a soldier called "eight hundred heroes" who fought bloody battles in the four-row warehouse to stop the Japanese army.

The real prototype is the fourth-line warehouse defense war at the end of the Battle of Songhu. The war was fierce, mainly because there were only more than 400 people, but they had to face 300 thousand Japanese troops.

At that time, China's army was sandwiched between two sides, and more than 500,000 troops had to retreat to the west. Since the large troops are going to retreat, it is inevitable to need cover. The teams responsible for cover are 88th Division, 262nd Brigade, 524th Regiment and 1 Battalion.

How can a battalion have 800 people? Their actual number is not 800 at all. This battalion consists of a machine gun company, three infantry companies and a mortar platoon, with a "establishment" of only 452 people. The reason why Xie Jinyuan replied that there were 800 people was to strengthen the military strength, confuse the Japanese army and give the battle a little chance of winning.

Although the number was relatively small, the 400 people tried their best to arm the four rows of warehouses into bunkers from the inside out, and then fought bloody battles with the Japanese for six days and six nights until the end. During these six days and nights, countless pairs of eyes stared at this stormy little fortress, and countless people prayed that they could retreat safely.

In this way, their so-called "800 people" team resolutely resisted the invasion of 300,000 Japanese troops. Afterwards, the four-row warehouse stood tall, and the story of "eight hundred heroes" alone against the enemy was also sung.

Extended data

These 400 strong men fought with 200,000-300,000 Japanese troops for four days and four nights. The biggest reason is that the east and south of the four-row warehouse are concessions. The Japanese army was afraid, didn't want the intervention of European and American powers, and didn't dare to use heavy weapons. They repeatedly charged with infantry.

Later, European and American countries were afraid that they would suffer, and asked Chiang Kai-shek to give up resistance. So these 400 strong men withdrew to the British and French Concession, were immediately disarmed and put under house arrest, and were trapped in the Concession for more than three years. When the Pacific War broke out, the Japanese army invaded the concession. They were all captured by the Japanese army, and most of them died in a foreign land, with a tragic ending.

Fundamentally speaking, the battle of defending the four-row warehouse is a political performance, knowing that it is a dead end and sending more than 400 soldiers to the flesh and blood mill. The most puzzling thing is that nine people died and twenty or thirty people were injured in this defense war. How fierce can it be? One year after retreating into the Concession, four traitors emerged and assassinated Xie Jinyuan, the commander of the defence war.
