Vinyl ester resin is prepared from epoxy resin and methacrylic acid by ring-opening addition chemical reaction. It retains the basic segments of epoxy resin and has good technological properties of unsaturated polyester resin. After curing under suitable conditions, it shows some special excellent properties. Therefore, it has developed rapidly since the 1960s. First, Shell Chemical of the United States launched Epocrgl brand, then Dow Chemical of the United States launched Derakane brand at 1966, followed by Hetron brand of Ashland Chemical and Ripoxy brand of Showa Polymer Co., Ltd. of Japan. Other foreign brands or manufacturers include AOC and Interplastics. And domestic companies also develop their own vinyl ester resins, such as Shanghai Chen Fufu Kem, Huachang MFE, Shaws Wankel, etc. With the development of vinyl resin, more and more enterprises produce vinyl ester resin, so the brands and types in the domestic and foreign markets are more complicated.
