The reason why the international historians don't recognize the existence of Xia Dynasty.

Foreign archaeologists almost agree that the Xia Dynasty is a mythical era. The main reason is that no reliable physical remains have been found so far.

Allen, a British archaeologist, believes that the history of Xia Dynasty in China ancient documents is very vague. Shangshu was written in the late Western Zhou Dynasty, and Annals of Bamboo Records was written in the Warring States Period more than 1000 years later. The credibility of these historical materials is very low.

Alan also believes that it is an unscientific archaeological method for China archaeologists to look for evidence of the existence of the Xia Dynasty from ancient documents and historical materials with preconceived ideas. The historical identification of the Xia Dynasty must be based on the characters and historical materials of the Xia Dynasty. There is no record of Oracle Bone Inscriptions in Shang Dynasty, and Xia Dynasty should not exist.

Thorpe, an American archaeologist, is skeptical about the Xia Dynasty, mainly focusing on Erlitou site in Yanshi, Henan.

Thorpe believes that whether Erlitou site is Shang or Xia remains to be confirmed. Archaeologists in China believe that the palaces of the Xia Dynasty are just some tall rammed earth buildings. Judging from the restored building, it does not have the living conditions, and it is more like an altar for sacrifice.

In addition, the tombs of princes and nobles have not been found in Erlitou site, which is not even comparable to Taosi culture in Shanxi and Liangzhu culture in Zhejiang. It is hard to convince people that Erlitou can become the hereditary capital of Xia Dynasty.
