History of Kaliningrad
As the main successor of the disintegration of the Soviet Union, Russia is the largest country in the world today. Everyone knows this. Little known, however, is that there is also a Russian land enclave-Kaliningrad in the hinterland of Central Europe. So, why are there Russian enclaves in Central Europe, far away from Russia? How is it formed?

As mentioned earlier, 199 1 12 years after the disintegration of the Soviet Union, Russia naturally became a country that inherited most of the territory of the Soviet Union, including Kaliningrad.

However, before 1945, that is, 75 years ago, Kaliningrad was not the territory of the Soviet Union, but a part of East Prussia, Germany. Kaliningrad, the capital, formerly known as Koenigsberg, is the "land of Longxing" of Prussia, the predecessor of Germany. Konigsberg is the headquarters of Teutonic Knights and the capital of Prussia. After becoming a Soviet territory, it is not such an enclave.

In history, Russians were ruled by Mongols for more than 200 years, and then their fighting national character was formed. /kloc-In the 6th century, Russians not only gained independence from Mongolia's rule, but also wiped out Mongolia's golden tent khanate and began its 400-year-long foreign expansion, which expanded its territory 400 times and made it the largest country in the world.

Konigsberg has been the inherent territory of the Germans since ancient times, and it is the ancestral home of the Prussians who later unified Germany and established the Second Reich of Germany. At that time, it was called East Prussia. Prussians made their fortune here as Teutonic Knights, established Prussian Principality, and later became Prussian Kingdom until 187 1 Prussia defeated France and unified Germany. Prior to this, Prussia had divided Poland with Russia and Austria three times, connecting the territory of East Prussia with that of West Poland.

Germany, defeated in World War I, saw the successful restoration of Poland, but it also had to return the Polish territory occupied during the Prussian Kingdom and cede the Danzig Corridor between East Prussia and Germany to Poland. At this point, East Prussia became an enclave in Germany. During World War I, the October Revolution broke out in Russia and Soviet Russia was born. At the same time, Finland and Baltic countries in the Russian Empire became independent one after another. In order to win the favor of the world, the Soviet Union and Russia announced that they would abandon the Russian era and sign unequal treaties, including the occupied Polish territory.

At the beginning of World War II, the Soviet Union and Germany had a close relationship and once shared Poland, while the Soviet Union re-annexed the three Baltic countries, making the Soviet Union and Germany become neighbors again after World War I, because after World War I, due to the successful restoration of Poland, the Soviet Union and Germany were no longer two neighboring countries. However, both countries have their own plans and have troops stationed on the border. 194 1 year, Germany attacked Poland and the Soviet-German war broke out. But in the end, Germany lost in the Soviet battlefield, not only to the Soviet Union, but also to Berlin, so the Soviet Union occupied East Germany, including East Prussia.

After the victory of World War II, the victorious Soviet Union undoubtedly got the economically developed North East Prussia centered on Koenigsberg. The Soviet Union called Konigsberg, Kaliningrad, the capital of East Prussia, and East Prussia became the Kaliningrad state of the Soviet Union, and was included in the main joining country, the Russian Federation. Because Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia in the Baltic Sea were still territories of the Soviet Union, Kaliningrad was not an enclave at that time.

In order to strengthen the rule of Kaliningrad and prevent future changes, the Soviet Union adopted their usual practice-population replacement. The Germans here were forcibly driven away, and a large number of Russians were moved in, making Russians the main ethnic group here. This is why Kaliningrad is always safe no matter what happens in Europe and the Soviet Union.

199 1 year, a great event happened in the world, that is, the huge Soviet Union disintegrated peacefully, and the Baltic countries Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania were completely independent, so that Kaliningrad was separated from Russia by the three countries. Since then, Kaliningrad has become an enclave of Russia in Central Europe.
