Shanghai Museum of History was founded in 1983, formerly known as Shanghai Museum of Historical Relics. 199 1 year changed to the current museum name.
At that time, Shanghai Museum of Historical Relics temporarily borrowed Hall 5 of Shanghai Agricultural Exhibition Hall in the western suburbs as the temporary site, and officially opened to the public on May 27th. 1984. Shanghai Museum of Cultural Relics is a geographical museum. Through 1300 pieces of cultural relics, documents and pictures, it comprehensively shows the long historical scroll of Shanghai from ancient times to 1949 before the liberation of Shanghai.
199 1 Hongqiao road 1286, the new Shanghai Museum of History. The basic exhibition is "Exhibition of Modern Shanghai Urban Development History", with more than 500 pieces of cultural relics 1500, which is divided into six parts, showing the liberation from 1843 to 1949 in an all-round way. It is listed as the first batch of "Youth Education Bases" in Shanghai.
The Shanghai History Museum has nearly 30,000 pieces of cultural relics, mainly including Shanghai's ancient historical relics and more than18,000 pieces of modern historical relics (including the cultural relics of concession colonies). Among them, the Flower, Bird, Insect and Fish Atlas embroidered by Han Ximeng in Ming Dynasty, Hou Tongzeng's calligraphy scroll, Jin Zijing and General Zhenyuan's bronze cannon written by Qibao Temple, the relics of modern Chen Huacheng's resistance to Britain, the huge sum spent by the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, the bronze lion in front of the former HSBC Bank, and the boundary markers between the British and American concessions in 1893 are all important cultural relics in the collection.
In May, 20001,the "Shanghai Urban History Development Exhibition Hall" planned and produced by our library was moved to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower in Pudong, Shanghai. The exhibition hall is divided into five parts: the origin of Huating, the city style, the glimpse of opening a port, the Shili foreign market and the old traces on the sea. Mainly using the artistic techniques of scenes and models, supplemented by audio, multimedia information inquiry device and multimedia film and television model synthesis device, taking the development of urban architecture as the main clue, it reflects the process of Shanghai's development from a coastal fishing village to the largest industrial and commercial city in China since ancient times, and highlights the historical evolution of modern Shanghai in politics, economy, culture, society and life.
"Shanghai Urban History Development Exhibition Hall" is located in the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, a famous tourist attraction in Shanghai. Visitors can not only watch the great changes in Shanghai since the reform and opening up, but also feel the rapid development of new Shanghai. They can also visit the Shanghai Urban History Development Exhibition Hall in the tower to appreciate the traces of Shanghai's urban history development and the history and historical customs of modern Shanghai.
The new Shanghai History Museum project has been included in the three-year action plan for Shanghai's cultural construction. At present, the Shanghai Cultural Relics Management Committee has made a preliminary plan for the construction of the Shanghai History Museum: the new museum in the future will be a local history museum that fully reflects the historical development track of Shanghai, and is positioned to comprehensively display the cultural relics of Shanghai's ancient history and modern history. A new museum that comprehensively displays the history of Shanghai's ancient and modern cultural relics is expected to appear in Shencheng.
