Treat history with a correct and peaceful attitude

Mr. Qian Mu, a master of Chinese studies, wrote such a sentence in the preface of the book "Outline of National History", which changed my view of history: people who have a kind of warmth and respect for their past history will at least not have an extreme nihilism about their past history, at least they will not feel that we are standing at the peak of their past history and regard us as all kinds of evils and weaknesses. This sentence is the basis and premise of my study of history, and it has also become the guiding ideology of my study of history.

The great contrast between the prosperity of ancient history and the decline of modern history has aroused strong indignation among people and events in that history. But this sentence changed my view of history and made me realize our extreme attitude when studying that history. It makes us understand that we should treat history with a normal heart and learn that humiliating history with a correct and peaceful attitude. A survivor of the Nanjing Massacre once said, "We should remember history, but not hatred." This peaceful attitude is the best interpretation of history. This attitude is not unpatriotic, but to turn these painful and humiliating histories into stepping stones on our future road.

Extreme hatred will only hinder us from learning history, and too many subjective factors will interfere, so that we can't understand history correctly. Only by looking at history with a peaceful mind can we understand history more thoroughly and evaluate it more objectively.

In today's society, we should not look at history with a condescending attitude, but should look up at history with a straight eye. Not only for history, but also for today's society. Mei Renyi, director of the American Research Office of Beijing Foreign Studies University, once said: What we should avoid is that we have a "big country mentality" before we really become a big country. There should be no "big country mentality" in treating history. Don't think that we are at the peak of history. This is the correct attitude towards history.

Taste history from multiple angles

Yi Zhongtian said that all historical figures have three images: historical image, literary image and folk image. In the process of studying history, we will also read various versions of works. For example, the official history, unofficial history, and various documents make it more difficult to explore the historical truth. So when studying history, don't be single-minded. We should look at, appreciate and understand history from multiple angles. For example: Li Hongzhang, he is recognized as a traitor. This is from a historical perspective. However, if we look at the background of the times at that time, we will inevitably have our own subjective views on the cause and effect of the signing of that series of treaties. If you look at it from his own point of view, you may sigh for his helplessness. From today's perspective, we can find out what qualities he has, what ideas are worth learning from and what practices we need to take as a warning. We can also put ourselves in his shoes and think about what we would do if we were in his position. This is not only learning and reviewing history, but also previewing and telling life. If you taste history from many angles, you will get different understanding and understanding of history, and you will also get your own life enlightenment.

Establish one's own view of history

Emperor Taizong once said: Take history as a mirror, and you can know the gains and losses. Confusion in life can often be solved by reading history. A correct view of history can give you a thorough understanding of history and your own historical thoughts. It will be the signpost and cornerstone for you to study history. Establishing your own view of history and influencing your outlook on life and values will benefit you immensely.

We should have a subjective view of our own history and an objective evaluation of our own history. Let's stand at the foot of the mountain and look up at the historical sky calmly.
