The 8G electric locomotive is the third electric locomotive imported from abroad in China1980s after the 8K and 6K locomotives. According to the requirements of our country, all three kinds of locomotives are AC DC electric locomotives based on Bo two-axle bogies, with single-axle power of 800 kW and top speed of 100km/h, giving full play to the traction function. Because 8G locomotives were introduced in the form of exchange trade according to the Sino-Soviet trade agreement, China did not have much choice in technical conditions; Moreover, in view of the technical level of Soviet electric locomotives at that time, 8G locomotives did not include technology introduction. The main requirements are durability and reliability to meet the actual needs of China railway freight transportation at that time, followed by the comparison with the other two models.
Therefore, compared with 8K and 6K locomotives imported in the form of "combining technology and trade" after international bidding, the technical level of 8G locomotives is relatively backward. It is based on the VL80s (вл 80) electric locomotive with mass production and stable quality in Soviet Union 1979. According to the actual use requirements of China, it has been improved, and to a great extent, it still retains the tradition of Soviet electric locomotives. For example, the voltage regulating circuit still adopts low-voltage side voltage regulating switch, step-by-step voltage regulation and step-by-step conversion of transition reactor. , similar to Shaoshan 1 electric locomotive in China, the technical level still stays in the1970s; However, the traction characteristics of the 8G locomotive are still better than those of the early Shaoshan 4 electric locomotive, and the locomotive adopts better electromechanical components according to the requirements of our country, so its reliability is relatively high. 8G electric locomotives arrive in China from 1988 to 199 1 in batches. 100 locomotives were all assigned to Taiyuan North Electric Locomotive Depot of Beijing Railway Bureau. After the traction test, according to the locomotive performance and transportation task requirements, it is decided to put 60 locomotives into Shitai Railway and 40 locomotives into Beitongpu Railway. In 2003, Taiyuan North Locomotive Depot transferred 20 8G locomotives to Shijiazhuang Electric Locomotive Depot (Beijing Bureau Stone Locomotive Depot). However, due to the lack of experience in the use and maintenance of 8G locomotives in Shijiazhuang Electric Locomotive Depot, these locomotives were restored to Taiyuan North Locomotive Depot in early 2005, but 00 1 004 locomotives were scrapped during the operation of Shijiazhuang Locomotive Depot. In March 2005, Taiyuan Railway Sub-bureau merged with Datong Railway Sub-bureau under Beijing Railway Bureau to form a new taiyuan railway administration, and all 8G locomotives still belong to Taiyuan North Locomotive Depot. In August, 2009, taiyuan railway administration adjusted the layout of stations and depots, cancelled Taiyuan North Locomotive Depot, put the establishment of Taiyuan North Locomotive Depot under the management of Taiyuan Locomotive Depot, and reassigned all 8G locomotives to Taiyuan Locomotive Depot (trolley platform depot).
20 1 1 Taizhongyin Railway was put into operation, and 35 8G locomotives were put into operation in Taiyuan Locomotive Depot to undertake the traction task of through freight trains. Because the Taiyuan-Zhongyin Railway adopts GSM-R network terminal communication system, all the 8G locomotives used in this line are equipped with train integrated wireless dispatching communication equipment (CIR). At the same time, the electrification transformation of the south Tongpu railway from Yuci to Houma North was completed, and 35 8G electric locomotives were transferred to Houma North Locomotive Depot to serve as 3 1 pair freight trains between Houma North and Taiyuan North. At present, 8G locomotives are mainly used in coal transportation branches such as Tongpu Railway, Shitai Railway, Taizhongyin Railway, Tailan Railway and Xishan Railway. Because most domestic locomotive overhaul factories do not have the conditions to overhaul imported locomotives, the overhaul of 8G locomotives is undertaken by Taiyuan (North) Locomotive Depot.
