What are the legends in Xiamen?
Human life on Xiamen Island can be traced back to the late Neolithic Age three or four thousand years ago. The recorded history began in the middle of the Tang Dynasty, and it has been more than 40 years since1/kloc-0. During the Tianbao period of the Tang Dynasty, the Han nationality Xue and Chen immigrated to the island from Fuan in eastern Fujian and Zhangzhou in southern Fujian, where they lived together in the north and south of Hongji Mountain, respectively, and the place name "New Town" appeared, renamed as "Jiahe Li", which belonged to Datong Field in Nan 'an County of Qingyuan County.

In the first year of Qianlong in the Five Dynasties (939), Datong Field was upgraded to Tongan County, and Jiaheli was under the jurisdiction of Tongan County. In the twenty-seventh year of Hongwu in the early Ming Dynasty (394), the imperial court built a city wall on the island and set up a garrison. The name of this city is "Xiamen" and the garrison calls it "Towel Left Station". The place name of Xiamen was established from then on. In the following hundreds of years, Xiamen was renamed as "Siming House" and "Siming County" successively. 1935 Xiamen was formally established.

There is an old legend in Xiamen: a long time ago, there were only black stones and green Woods on this island. A group of egrets flew here and fell in love with this black and green island. They live in the Woods, walk on the beach and play in the sea. There are no other birds and animals here, and no one comes to disturb them. So the egret became the owner of the island. When people first came to the island and saw a large number of egrets floating on the water, they called this place "Lujiang" and this island "Ludao". Since when has this island been inhabited? Archaeologists have found some stone tools and pottery here, and believe that people lived on this island about 3000 years ago. However, this island has a recorded history, but it only started from the Tang Dynasty. If you go to Nanputuo, a famous ancient temple, you can see a pair of couplets on the stone pillars of Daxiong Hall: dating back to the Tang Dynasty, as ancient as Kaiyuan; Puguang was brought to Xiamen Island, adding luster to Wu Tai. This shows that Nanputuo, like Kaiyuan Temple in Quanzhou, was originally built in the Tang Dynasty. According to records, in the Tang Dynasty, two families, Xue and Chen, moved to this island from other places. Xue lives in the northwest of Hongji Mountain, and Chen lives at the foot of Jinbang Mountain in the south. At that time, it was called "Xue is in Chen Bei". Nanputuo was originally built by the Chen family with 52 acres of farmland as the temple site. Rebuilt in the Five Dynasties, it was named Sizhou Temple. In the Song Dynasty, the monk Cui Wen built the Zhao Pu Temple. These temples are the predecessors of Nanputuo.

The working ancestors of Xiamen people worked hard here. During the Taiping and Xingguo years of the Song Dynasty (about 1000 years ago), an excellent rice variety of "several spikes per stem" was produced. Since then, this nameless island has been called "Jiahe Island"-an island with abundant grains. This is the first place in Xiamen. Jiahe Qianhu Station was established here in Yuan Dynasty, which was the first military institution in Xiamen history. The so-called "thousand households" means "the length of a thousand people." Thousands of families in the Yuan Dynasty were divided into upper, middle and lower classes, with more than 700 soldiers in the upper class, 500 in the middle class and 300 in the lower class. It can be seen that the important position of this island in coastal defense has attracted the attention of the yuan authorities. Since the Ming Dynasty, Japanese pirates have been invading the coastal provinces of China. In order to strengthen coastal defense, Zhu Yuanzhang sent Jiang Zhou Dexing to Fujian coastal areas to set up many health centers. Yongning Wai in southern Fujian is divided into five stations: left, right, middle, front and back. The second center-left station is located on this island, so it is called center-left station. "Ming History" wrote: "(Zhou) Dexing went to Fujian and trained more than 100,000 militiamen according to ethnic groups, which is very important to each other. They built 16 cities, set up 45 patrol divisions, and prepared strategies to prevent the sea. " At that time, "move Yongning WeiZhongZuo loyalist in Xiamen, fortification to defend, and then ZhongZuo thousands of households. There are 1,000 governors and 1,240 soldiers in Fujian. " About the twenty-seventh year of Hongwu (1394), Xiamen City was built, and the name Xiamen appeared from then on.
