The main museum has four floors, the first floor has a reception desk, the second and third floors have special exhibitions on history and culture, and the fourth floor has special exhibitions on art, which constitutes the basic display of Shanxi Museum. After stepping into the lobby on the first floor, walk up the stairs to the second floor, and start a historical journey with the theme of "Jin Soul" from here.

The historical special exhibition, from the remains of ancient humans to the ups and downs of Shanxi merchants in the Ming and Qing Dynasties for nearly 500 years, shows the highlights of Shanxi's 5,000-year civilization process through many cultural relics. Bird statue, bronze wares of Western Zhou Dynasty, ritual vessels of Jinhou Temple. The carving of the bird image is extremely exquisite, with the phoenix as the main carving, and a bird on the belly of the phoenix as the catcher on the cover of the bird image. On the tail of the phoenix, there is an elephant. Its long nose and phoenix's feet form a tripartite confrontation, which ensures the stability of the bird's image. This series is a masterpiece of courtyard bronzes.

In addition, we can also see: Hou Ma's letter of alliance, the agreement signed by the Qing Dynasty in the Spring and Autumn Period; Wood lacquer painting, lacquer painting screen, Northern Wei Dynasty, painted with colorful stories of the year of Lienv Biography; The white jade bowl is a cultural relic of the Sui Dynasty. The owner of the tomb was a fisherman in Central Asia at that time. The stone bowl is engraved with patterns inside and outside.
