The History of Agriculture in China was first published in 198 1, with the preface of the famous historian Mr. Zhou Gucheng. In the past 20 years, with the enthusiastic care and support of readers and authors, it has developed into one of the three major domestic economic history magazines recognized by academic circles.

Since 1992, Peking University Library and Peking University Library Periodical Work Research Association jointly developed and published the Outline of Chinese Core Journals, China Agricultural History has been listed as a historical national Chinese core journal for four consecutive times. Agricultural History of China is the core periodical of the history of humanities and social sciences in China, and also the source periodical of CSSCI.
