How did the name "Rhino Road" come from?
1926, Ding Ying, the father of rice science in China, discovered a wild rice in a pond at the end of rhinoceros road, which aroused his interest in studying the origin of rice in China. He harvested and sowed the seeds of this wild rice named "rhinoceros tail" and observed it. After eight years of repeated screening, it was bred into "Zhongshan No.1" named after the school, setting the world's first wild rice.

It can be seen that the history of rhinoceros road is at least 100 years. In fact, near Guangzhou Nonglin Road, it belonged to the eastern suburb of Guangzhou in the 1920s more than 70 years ago. At present, there is a school in Shimagang, west of Nonglin Road and Rhino Road, which is called "Guangdong Agricultural Experimental Field" and later renamed as "Guangdong Public Agricultural College", while there is a "First Farm" in the east, which is contiguous fields, Woods and marshes.

A more credible guess is:

Because there is a farm, cattle are one of the main animals on the farm.

Due to frequent grazing, a path has been opened, and many animals have passed by, which will naturally leave a lot of "feces". At that time, everyone knew that it was a "cow shit road". Later, when the road name needs to be determined, it is called "Shi Niu Road" in turn, and some people call it "Xi Niu Road". Later, it was changed to the rhinoceros road today.

Of course, it is also possible that there are rhinos on the farm, hence the name Rhino Road.

Ha ha.
