Modern times refers to the period from the Sino-British Opium War (1840) to the May 4th Movement (19 19) (19 is modern, 1949 is contemporary).

Ancient times: ① The past was far away from modern times (different from "modern and modern"). In the historical stages of China, it refers to1before the middle of the 9th century.

* 1840 is the dividing line between ancient and modern China. (2) refers to the slave society era (some also include the primitive commune era).
