Zhejiang-jiangxi railway, built in 1899, from Hangjiang Railway to Zhu Ping Railway 1929, is one of the early railway trunk lines in China. The line extends westward from Hangzhou Station, the terminal station of Shanghai-Hangzhou Line, into Jiangxi Province, into Hunan Province, passes through Liling City and reaches Zhuzhou City.

The Jiangxi line was built by the Hangjiang Railway. In February of the Republic of China 18 (1929), in order to develop the economy of southern Zhejiang and western Zhejiang, the Zhejiang provincial government decided at the 203rd meeting to build the Hangjiang light rail from Xiaoxing Qiantang River in Xiaoshan (opposite to Sanxiang Temple in Nanxing Bridge) to Yushan in Jiangxi. Preparation and investigation began that year. Limited by funds, we will adopt the method of "connecting first and then reserving, and operating while building" to build and operate in sections. After the Hangzhou-Jiangxi Railway was completed and opened to traffic, the provincial capitals of Zhejiang and Jiangxi, the Ministry of Railways and banks organized the "zhejiang-jiangxi railway United Company", under which the Zhejiang-Jiangxi Railway Bureau continued to build westward. It was built in Nanchang in 25 years and Pingxiang in September the following year. The Pingxiang-Zhuzhou section of the railway was originally a Guangdong-Han railway, and the Ministry of Railways ordered it to be placed under the jurisdiction of the Zhejiang-Jiangxi Railway Bureau. At this time, the Qiantang River Bridge has also been completed, and the total length from Hangzhou Station to Zhuzhou is 1008 km (including branch lines). Less than three months after the completion of the whole line, on the eve of the fall of Hangzhou, in order to prevent the Japanese army from invading south, the National Government ordered the troops to destroy the lines between Qiantang River Bridge and Meichi, and later the lines were destroyed one by one with the failure of the war. When War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression won, only Hangzhou-Zhuji and Jiangshan-Shangrao lines were opened to traffic. It was repaired in sections in 35 years, and it was not until 65438+February in 37 years that the whole line was repaired and opened to traffic.
